I was employed by the Pang Valley Flood Forum, to design and undertake surveys of the The Bourne, a tributary of the River Pang on the Englefield Estate. This survey was to inform the impact of Natural Flood Management measures - a series of large woody debris dams - on the natural habitats of the river.
I designed a modified condition assessment for the terrestrial habitats adjacent to the river and made use of the River Habitat Survey.
My survey found there to be no negative impact of the flood management works on the river habitats and that, in the long term, they were likely to improve the river for wildlife.
